MONTHLY MEETING OF THE WALDEN MEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION 02-17-2012

The December meeting of the Walden MGA was called to order by President Rose at 1700 hrs with all Executive Board Members present with the exception of Phil Dieterich, David Rhodes.

A motion was made by McManus, and second by Mullins to waive the reading of the minutes and accept them as posted and emailed to all members. Motion passed.

Phil Dietrich sent in the Treasurers report.  A copy is attached with the report. The hole in one prize for any MGA tournament remains at $5000. It was noted that the hole in one prize fund will be allowed to accumulate to $10,000 to enable us to immediately fund another $5,000 prize when someone gets a hole in one.  Once the $10,000 milestone is achieved, 100% of hole in one prize money will be returned to the players each month in the closest to the pin competition.

Director Holt presented his report from the tournament committee. Director Holt has brought on Denny Wood to be added to the Tournament Committee to act as Rules Advisor for USGA compliance throughout the year. Discussed a rules awareness program involving including an article on USGA or Local Rules  in the Walden monthly newsletter which we hope will enhance consistent compliance with the rules during all MGA events. We are developing a local rule on bulkhead holes 8, 11, 12, 13 players are prohibited from playing lakeside. Drop areas on holes 6 and 16 will be the gold tee boxes.  Provisional ball will be allowed on holes 6 and 12 for any shot hit over green and out of sight where player is not sure if in hazard or out of bounds. No provisional ball will be allowed for shots visibly hit in water hazard in which player is debating playing out of hazard.

All local rules will be posted on the bulletin board for members and presented in writing for each interclub competition.

Director Holt noted the basis for costs of each tournament as follows:

One day no lunch will be $35

One day w/lunch will be $45

Two day w/lunch will be $55

Gentlemen,
Senior Inter club is about to begin! I have enclosed the complete schedule for the year for the Thursday mornings we  will play.
We will have an organizational meeting for everyone interested in playing Senior Inter club this year at the Club on Tuesday January 31st at 6 PM. (If you can’t attend we still want you to play this year!)
Our first match is at home against Hearthstone on February 23rd. Let me know if you are interested in playing by email.
The email address is srinterclub@gmail.com   We are planning on using this as our permanent address for email communication for the Senior Inter club members @ Walden. That way both the captain & co captains present & future can access weekly scheduled player’s, etc.
Please email me with any preferences you have as far as playing in matches. (home only, away only, etc.)
Thanks. Stay tuned for more as we begin to set up the schedule of players for the year.

Well February has been a tough month for scheduling and the weather!  Both the MGA Range Day and now the Member – Member Match Play Tournament have been affected.  We have  reset the Tournament to February 18th and 19th but obviously changing dates at the last minute has resulted in several people being unable to reschedule and we apologize for the lost opportunity these folks have encountered.

We will reset the Range Day at this week’s Board meeting and advise everyone of the next attempt.

Our Web Site is up and running and I hope everyone is finding it useful and easy to navigate.

The Year has gotten off to a great start, we had an excellent turnout for our first tournament

and just released our plans for the MGA Range Days for this year.  All current members got

an invite to the first Range Day which is scheduled for February 4th.

Our next Tournament is coming up fast – the Member – Member Match play.  There will only

be eight teams per flight so after Saturday / Sunday Competition there will only be one more

match to play.  I encourage everyone to sign up early – we almost filled up in January!

The web site is going through final checks – we will be sending out login and password info

to 2012 MGA members shortly to enable you to get into the protected areas of the site.

Save April 3rd on your calendar – we are planning our first MGA social – the Master’s

Drafting Party at the Cafe.

Good Golf everyone!

Bob
